Once you are satisfied with your editing and fades, go to the Audacity “File” drop down menu and select “Export”.
You’ll see a window like the one to the right.
Note that in the “Save As:” box I have taken all the spaces out of the song title.
When a URL is directed at this file it will be something like...
http://www.mywebsite.com/MusicFileFolder/05DevilOnMyTail.mp3
If I didn’t take out the spaces it would look like this......
http://www.mywebsite.com/MusicFileFolder/05%20Devil%20On%20My%20Tail.mp3
.... and make me look like a Bozo if anybody sees it.
Select your destination to save this file.
Select “Format: MP3 Files” and then click the options button.
Now you can specify your MP3 options.
You can increase or decrease the “Quality” with a corresponding increase or decrease in the file size which effects the download speed of your webpage.
These are the settings that I use.
Experiment with your own settings if you have the time and/or patience.
I don’t have very much of either!
When you’re done, click “OK” and you can have fun with the Metadata.
My metadata was generated for me because the song in the example is available for purchase on iTunes.
Well..... I did change the “Genre” just for fun.
You can play around with this table by adding or removing Tag Names.
When you are done, click “OK” to finalize the whole deal and the file will be saved to the destination that you specified earlier.
In this case, I chose “Desktop” for no reason at all.
Its better to create a folder - MP3 Web Clips - in the same location that you stored your original files and export your file to that.
Now you can edit all the rest of the files that you want to play on your website.
