Promotion & Marketing

Your Promotion & Marketing strategy should be conceived before you even hit the studio to record.

The harder you work at it the more you will sell.

Make up a Promo Package that can be emailed to Radio Stations, DJs, Newspapers, Magazines and anybody you can think of who will help to sell your music.

Make your Promo Package available as a download on your website.

Create a page that is not in your website navigation menu and send out an email with this link.

Music - Your 3 best songs in an XPSF player that can be listened to will your other material is downloaded and read.

Bio - Create a bio and photos in a DTP application, export as a PDF, ZIP it and make it available as a download.

Press Release 1 - Write a short press release with all the bare facts and the release date.

Press Release 2 - Write a one page press release for journalists to plagiarize. They are busy people working to tight deadlines. Do most of the work for them.

Contact Information - Name, Email & Phone Number on EVERYTHING!

You do have all the email addresses of all your fans and those who bought your last CD - don’t you?

Send out a Promo Email. Offer  the first 100 buyers a discount!

I have put together a “Fake” Promo Package as an example of how to put the various pieces in a package.

Package Contents

New CD Release:     Country Woman by Roddy McKay

In this text you need to present your new release.

A brief description and the genre etc.

Whatever you say here must make the media people really want to know more and to download your package.

Clicking the image of the Presskit “Book” will take you to the iWeb E Book page.

The E Book contains a section on assembling the material for your Promo Package.

This will show you the basic elements that you need to include and how to put them together.

You can see this for free online at ........

Make the contents factual, readable and interesting.

You’re presenting this to world weary media professionals who have seen and heard it all.

Don’t try to tell them how wonderful you are - they’ll decide that and, hopefully, tell their audience.

The content of my download is an example of how you should present your material. The actual content is up to you.

I’m not trying to sell YOU a CD. I’m trying to help you promote your own!

Click the image above for how to present your package online.
