Since Yahoo decided to kill the Easy Listener player by removing the assets and leaving us all high and dry, I decided to stick with my original intent and not use any players that depend on assets on somebody else’s server.

Sites like MyFlashFetish and Snocap have let us down in this respect in the past and, now that Yahoo has broken its promise to keep their player going, I’m not getting caught again by any of these flakes no matter how fancy their player looks!

Customizing the XSPF Player

Unless you own the copyrights on a musical composition, you will have obtain and pay for two separate licenses to play it on your website.

These are explained here -  http://www.iwebformusicians.com/DistributeandPromote/CopyrightPublishing.html

The institutions who protect and manage these copyrights have big bucks to sue offenders.

The JW XSPF Player may not look very glamorous but it has all the basic functions that we need in a player. You can place several on a page and have only one set to autoplay. The others can be set to autoload or to sit empty displaying a title only. You can include a photo for each track or set it with one “master” image in the code rather than in the playlist or have no image at all. You can also adjust the player height and width and the image will adjust itself or you can adjust the player to suit the image and so on....

In the player shown above, I have set a black background to the player itself and drop it onto a complimentary graphic which I made up in iWeb rather than some of the other fancy applications which you probably wont have.

This player is simply set to autoplay at a starting volume of 50% and to display the elapsed time. All the controls are fairly obvious except perhaps those for random play and loop.

The track names are set in the playlist and you can add the artist’s name there if you wish.
