MP3 to Flash

Since I first published this website I’ve heard from a few people running into difficulty with the “simple” flash player.

I guess once you’ve done anything a few times it becomes simple or simpler!

I started to look around for something that is really simple and, inadvertently, stumbled across one solution when I bought a software bundle from Vertical Moon.

This came with their application Audio2SWF included. To purchase it separately is an astronomical 10 bucks.

The application has a number of player styles but I was struck with the sheer simplicity of the single button.

As I mentioned before, I don’t like to use players whose assets are on someone else’s server. If they go down, you go down with them.

Anyway, here’s what I got for half the price of a decent hair cut which I badly need......

River Run - Roddy McKay

I think you could say that CD Baby has been the single most important factor in enabling independent Musicians to release there albums world wide.

A lot of people have asked me how to implement the type of player that they use on their website - a simple play button with the song title.

The one below is created using Audio2SWF and I have made it bright blue so that you don’t overlook it.

The one next to it customized in a rather brash fashion and I have embellished it slightly with a shape and a text box.

Unless you own the copyrights on a musical composition, you will have obtain and pay for two separate licenses to play it on your website.

These are explained here -  http://www.iwebformusicians.com/DistributeandPromote/CopyrightPublishing.html

The institutions who protect and manage these copyrights have big bucks to sue offenders.

You have been warned!
