The concept of a web banner seems to mean different things to different folks.

The ones below are made up for free at the Banner Fans Website

Once you have created the banner you can copy the code and paste it into an html snippet box. Your URL is added into the code so that when the banner is clicked, the surfer goes to your page.

This banner is useful for  placing on other websites that you link with via free services like  Indie Link Exchange

This banner is made up in Keynote although you can just as easily do it in iWeb.

Each image is prepared as a square.

A rounded rectangle is selected and, in the “Graphic” inspector, “Image Fill”  is chosen and the appropriate photo chosen.

The shape is given a border, a slight drop shadow and a reflection.

All three are lined up in the Keynote window on a black background.

A screenshot is taken and cropped and then the JPEG file is dragged onto the iWeb page.

Again, I have created a complicated graphic with a fairly large file size and reduced it to a single image which will be further reduced in size when I run it through my optimizer application.

Where’s the magic in this? Well - if you click on any image you’ll discover that its a hyperlink.

This is done by dropping an empty text box over the image, selecting it and, in this case, making it a link to another web page which opens in a new window.
