EBooks are easy to make up in any Desktop Publishing application like Pages or Swift Publisher.

They are useful for creating songbooks, bios etc which can be downloaded from your website. You will see how I use them on the Forms page.

Once you have your PDF, ZIP it from Finder/File/Compress or Create Archive depending on whether you are using Leopard or an older version of OSX.

Drop the image of the cover photo onto your webpage, select it and, in the “Link” inspector, choose “Link to: A File” and browse to your ZIP.

Note that if you choose to use a text link, it will be changed to the file name when you select “Link to: A File”. Just Overwrite this with whatever you want.

The link will not work in iWeb but, when clicked in the published website, the ZIP file will be downloaded to the viewer’s desktop.

Free EBooks are good way to collect email addresses. You’ll notice that if you click on any of the above it takes you to a page where you have to supply your name and email and select the EBooks you want.
