Design

The design of a music (or any other) website landing page has got to be simple, direct and answer the three big questions.

[1] What is this about?

[2] What does it sound/look like?

[3] Where can I buy it?

Simple , direct and informative. You must get your message across to your potential customers in this first, vital page. If you don’t - Click - they’ve gone!

What is this? Oh! - it looks like a CD.

I wonder what it sounds like....... ?

Hmm - That sounds OK. Where can I buy it?

Simple, Direct and Informative. That’s all I’m going to say about design. I ain’t no designer!

Your landing page should load fast. Avoid putting any large media files on it such as a movie.

Never, ever use a splash page. This is a page that has a movie, music, image and an “Enter Site” button. It might impress those who find it but the search engines won’t.

The landing page, more so than any other, needs interesting and relevant text describing what the site is all about. Make sure you use keywords that will picked up by the search engine spiders.

Have at least one paragraph that can be updated regularly with latest news, new products/services etc.
